Modern Slavery Statement 2024

Introduction

Base 3 Systems Limited (Base 3) is a UK-based consultancy firm established in 1996, specialising in the use of SAS® Software to deliver data-centric services to our clients across a number of industry sectors. The company is privately owned, is classified as an SME under the UK Government definition, and operates solely within the UK.

We are committed to ensuring that slavery, child labour and human trafficking are not present in our own operations and within our supply chain. This statement sets out the steps we are taking in order to achieve this.

Our business

As a provider of consultancy services, we do not operate within an industry where modern slavery is prevalent. Regardless, we recognise the serious nature of this issue and are committed to taking steps to minimise any potential risks, not only within our own operations but also across our supply chain by:

  • adhering to all relevant laws and regulations relating to modern slavery and human trafficking;
  • conducting regular due diligence on our suppliers and business partners to assess their risk of involvement in modern slavery;
  • disclosing our approach to modern slavery and human trafficking through this statement and any additional reporting as required; and,
  • working with our suppliers, business partners, and other stakeholders to raise awareness of modern slavery and promote ethical business practices.

Our supply chain

Compared to larger organisations we have a relatively small number of tier one suppliers, the majority of which have a presence in the UK. Our supply chain includes sourcing services, people and technology, for which we use specified, reputable companies with values aligned to our own. We have zero tolerance towards slavery and human trafficking and will not conduct business with organisations that allow or condone any form of modern slavery.

Policies in relation to slavery and human trafficking

Our company policies reflect our commitment to conducting business ethically, and with integrity and transparency. Our policies, in combination with relevant company procedures, support the implementation and enforcement of effective systems, processes and control frameworks to prevent the occurrence of slavery, child labour and human trafficking related issues within our operations and, to a reasonable extent, within our supply chain. Policies are reviewed annually to ensure their continued relevance and alignment to our strategic goals.

Due diligence processes for slavery and human trafficking

As an SME we are typically unable to place contractual obligations on our suppliers. However we are committed to undertaking desk-based due diligence prior to engaging with a new supplier, and performing regular reviews to monitor the ongoing performance of our existing supply chain in respect of modern slavery.

Training and awareness

We have raised awareness of modern slavery issues by sharing this statement with our employees, and providing appropriate levels of training to our employees based on their roles.

Board approval

This statement for the financial year ending 31st March 2024 is made in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It has been approved by the Board of Directors and will be reviewed annually.
